“ No extra fees or surcharges. Thank you Yan's Garden for the honest, inclusive menu pricing and please stay fee-free. We enjoyed the food. Lunch special is a decent deal with a filling portion size. We ordered the Tofu and Black Mushroom a la carte and it was huge, enough for two and a half meals. Salt and Pepper Eggplant appetizer size was also substantial, tasty but somewhat on the salty side. Outdoor seating: There are a handful of four-top tables outside the storefront, shaded by an awning. ”
“ *Parking: Located in downtown San Carlos, it's street parking only. *Experience: We arrived around 6:30pm and was seated immediately. Restaurant definitely started getting busy at dinner time as most tables became occupied. This is a mom & pop Chinese restaurant ran by a family of Cantonese speakers, so I felt right at home. Service was super friendly and efficient. The drinks range from boba to alcoholic beverages like beer and wine. There's literally something for everyone! *Food: Since it was only my husband and I, we ordered two main dishes and a bowl of steamed rice. The general's chicken was very flavorful and paired perfectly with the steam rice as to balance your palette. The salt & pepper porkchop was good and on the healthier side as there is no msg. Both main dishes were solid if you're craving some Chinese food. The steam rice was the only thing that was subpar as it did not taste or look like fluffy fresh jasmine rice. I have been quite skeptical about coming here but was glad we tried it! We will definitely be back to try other things, and perhaps even the boba! ”
“ I haven't ordered the food here yet BUT I have stopped in for the boba many times. They have such a unique boba tea menu from mango pomelo sago to tiramisu lattes along with regular boba tea options as well. I'm way more impressed with their boba tea menu and quality than Boba Guys right across the street. There is also a convenient little kiosk at the front where you can input your order which is nice if you're an introvert, are indecisive, or have anxiety ordering things (lol). My only complaint is that I've tried ordering the boba online for pick up a couple of times and the system hasn't worked for me. I'll input my order, get ready for check out, and as soon as I input my card and press finish it says "oops there is an issue". I tried a few different cards (and know my credit cards are fine) and it still does this. Not sure if that's an issue on my end with internet, etc. but it's happened a couple of times. So I'll mostly just order in person and it's fine. The restaurant side has a mom and pop family feel to it. I'll have to try the food sometime soon! ”
“ Yan's Garden is definitely a one-stop shop for all your asian cuisine needs. From boba tea and pot stickers to Mu Shu pork and Pineapple Chicken fried rice, this place has truly got you and your taste buds covered from beginning to end. I stopped in recently with my boyfriend for dinner and we had such an excellent experience. I love the family-run dynamic of this place... They're a fast-paced bunch and very efficient! The food here is not only prepared with the freshest of ingredients, but its also bountiful in portion and you can't beat the homemade taste! We shared between the two of us practically a whole feast... but enough for lunch leftovers the following day. Based off what we ate, i'd highly recommend: Hot & Sour soup, BBQ Pork Buns, Honey Walnut Chicken and Orange chicken. I also paired the meal with a black sugar milk tea and that was delicious--an absolute must, for the next time you visit. Long story short--the food and the service is above par and you can't beat the bang for your buck here. The menu is plentiful so the possibilities are endless. I look forward to future stops here! ”
“ As the crackling rice soup came out and I heard the sizzle accompanied by the smell of hot broth. Memories of my childhood surfaced in a matter of seconds. Only this time, I was able to share this moment with my own child and husband. The food was outstanding, I have not encountered amazing Chinese food in YEARS! But this place took the cake. We ordered the typical soup, appetizer, fried rice, generals chicken, Mongolian beef and roasted duck. All of it was 100/100! My son is not one for vegetables but found himself eating all the vegetables out of the Mongolian beef. I indulged in the soup since it was a cold rainy day. Of course my husband had the whole duck. The service went beyond our expectations. The servers and chef were so kind and welcoming. It made us felt as if we had already known them. Can't wait to go back! ”
“ After a long pause, we returned here a few weeks ago and had a really good dinner. We returned again on Christmas Eve and tried other dishes that were also big hits. Among the dishes we like and recommend are... - Westlake beef soup - Smoked tea duck - DanDan noodles with pork - Dry pot prawn with chilies (and slivers of potato fries, wooden ear fungus, and greens) - Eggplant with spicy garlic sauce - Fried rice with scrambled egg and prawns Other dishes that we're ok, but not repeat-worthy are... - Almond chicken - Tasty, but too much oil and gravy for our liking - Vegetable fried rice - Not bad, but very mild - Fish filet in pickled cabbage - Tasty, but served in a broth loaded with chili peppers/seeds that was over the top spicy Service here is always very friendly and accommodating. One minor nit is that they play a melody over and over and over and over... Last night, it sounded like a Charlie Brown Christmas song that I must have heard over 20 times. ”
“ We love Yan's! Came here once for their Oreo matcha smoothie which was 10/10. Not too sweet, just how I like it. Decided to come back to try their food and it was delicious too. I get the kung pao chicken with chow mein and it didn't disappoint either. The restaurant feels cozy and warm with a virtual fish tank on the TV and jazz playing, they have sofa seats and honestly just wanted to take a nap here. The service is quick and feels family owned, stop by! ”
“ It was on a hot summer day. We were waking our dog babies on Laurel randomly came across this place in the quieter side of Laurel. The table and chair on the sidewalk was super inviting. Looks like a perfect spot to sit down and chill for a bit. And spacious for our dogs to settle comfortably. It's a good combination of Chinese food and healthy tea. We just wanted to have some small bites. So we ordered a couple things and highly recommend this vegetarian egg rolls. Perfectly crispy outside and flavorful inside. We also ordered the kiwi slush and mango passion fruit tea. Both are delicious actually. And perfect for summer days. They use chunks of fruits in it feels very much like real deal. They actually have a full menu for Chinese food. Can't wait to come back to try more things. ”
“ Good spot for Chinese food in downtown San Carlos! I came for dinner Saturday evening around 6:30 and it was super empty. Very easy to get a table. The menu has many pages and there are a lot of dishes to choose from. My group of 3 ordered three dishes to share: Dry pot chicken ($18.99) - I didn't eat much of this as I tend to stay away from spicy dishes, but I tried 2 pieces of chicken and it wasn't actually that spicy Broccoli beef ($16.99) - pretty standard for this dish, though I thought the beef slices were a little too thin Fish fillet with black bean sauce ($17.99) - my favorite dish of the night! I've never had a bad version of this dish and it was good here as well We ordered rice on the side for $2.50 pp, and tea was an extra $1 pp. They also have a boba menu, but I didn't look at it as I was only here for food. I hope this place gets more customers! It was the only Chinese restaurant I saw walking around the rest of the downtown area. ”
